MUNICH — Harry Kane has made history by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the Bundesliga, achieving this milestone with a remarkable hat trick during his 43rd match on Friday.
Kane’s impressive three-goal performance, which included converting two penalties, secured a 3-0 victory for Bayern Munich against Augsburg. This win further solidified Bayern’s dominance in the league, extending their lead to eight points as they progress through the 11th round of the season.
In his debut season with Bayern, Kane scored an astonishing 36 goals in 32 league matches. This was notably the first season since 2012 that Bayern failed to clinch the league title, as Bayer Leverkusen managed to go undefeated, ending Bayern’s streak of consecutive championships.
Thus far in the current season, Kane has netted 14 goals in the Bundesliga, alongside five in the Champions League and one in the German Cup, showcasing his remarkable scoring prowess.
During the match against Augsburg, Kane exhibited patience as he faced a determined defensive effort led by Augsburg’s goalkeeper, Nediljko Labrovi?. Bayern’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, commented on Kane’s performance, highlighting the player’s typical style. “It was close in the first half, very close, and then it happens—three goals in just 15 minutes. Of course, he has that ability. However, I must mention that he had quite a few opportunities that he could have capitalized on even more. But then, in a split second, he finds his rhythm, and everything aligns perfectly for him to score multiple goals.”
