The Colorado Rockies have finalized a one-year contract with left-handed pitcher Lucas Gilbreath valued at $785,000, coming just before the deadline for teams to extend offers to unsigned players on their 40-man roster.

Gilbreath, who is 28 years old, underwent Tommy John surgery on March 14, 2023. He made his comeback to the major leagues on August 16, pitching again on August 22 and 25. Unfortunately, he had to return to the injured list due to left shoulder inflammation shortly after.

Before securing this deal, Gilbreath was eligible for salary arbitration. Throughout his three seasons in the major leagues, he has recorded a 5-2 record, along with a 4.36 ERA spread over 96 relief appearances and one starting game.

This contract extension signifies the Rockies’ confidence in Gilbreath’s potential, hoping he will contribute significantly to their pitching roster in the upcoming season.
