Severe winter weather, characterized by significant snowfalls and frigid temperatures, has compelled the French soccer federation to delay several matches this weekend.
Following Thursday’s snow in Paris, the national weather agency issued warnings regarding snow and icy conditions in various parts of the country.
As a result, the federation announced on Friday that matches taking place in the women’s premier league and the men’s lower divisions would be postponed for safety reasons.
However, fixtures in Ligue 1, the top-tier men’s league, were not affected, as PSG played host to Toulouse on Friday. Additionally, the much-anticipated rugby test match between France and Argentina at the Stade de France, located in Saint-Denis, was expected to continue as scheduled.
The Caetano storm made its way across France on Thursday, ushering in early winter weather conditions that included strong winds, which disrupted travel across multiple regions.
