LONDON — On Friday, British law enforcement officials executed a controlled detonation in the vicinity of the U.S. Embassy in London while looking into reports of a potentially hazardous package discovered in the area.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident. Consequently, a road located on the embassy’s western side was temporarily shut down to ensure public safety.
The Metropolitan Police Service of London has announced that their investigation into the situation remains ongoing.
In a statement shared on X, a platform formerly known as Twitter, the U.S. Embassy confirmed that local authorities were addressing a suspicious package located outside their facility. They also noted that the Met Police have taken precautionary measures by closing Ponton Road to maintain safety in the area.
