DENTON, Texas — Atin Wright delivered an impressive performance, scoring 19 points as North Texas triumphed over Texas Wesleyan with a final score of 73-66 on Thursday evening.
Wright was efficient, hitting 5 of his 11 attempts from the field, which included 3 successful 3-point shots out of 6 attempts. He also showcased his free throw skills, sinking all 6 attempts at the line. The Mean Green improved their record to 4-1, with Brenen Lorient contributing 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting. Grant Newell also made an impact, scoring 10 points and perfecting his shooting by going 4 for 4 from the field as well as making 2 out of 4 free throws.
On the other side, Texas Wesleyan was paced by Vegas Evans, who led all scorers with 18 points alongside two steals. Montez Young Jr. supported the efforts of the Rams, adding 15 points and pulling down six rebounds. Trey Sinegal was another key player, contributing 14 points along with three steals for Texas Wesleyan.
With this victory, North Texas continues to build momentum in the season as they strategically navigate their way through the competition.
