NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma Sooners had an impressive showing Thursday night, defeating East Texas A&M with a score of 84-56. Freshman sensation Jeremiah Fears led the way with a stellar performance, contributing 20 points to the team’s victory. Fears shot 7-for-10 from the field, including 1-for-4 from beyond the arc, and made 5 of his 6 free-throw attempts. He also chipped in with five assists and four rebounds. Complementing Fears was Duke Miles, who added 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting, including three three-pointers.

Glenn Taylor Jr. proved to be a valuable asset off the bench, hitting four three-pointers and finishing with 16 points for the Sooners. For the Lions, players Scooter Williams Jr., Josh Taylor, and reserve TJ Thomas each scored nine points, struggling to find their rhythm throughout the game.

At halftime, Oklahoma held a slim 38-33 lead, thanks in part to Miles’s 14 points and Fears’s 11 points in the first half. The Sooners turned up their performance in the second half, with Taylor showcasing a strong shooting display, scoring 14 points after the break. His efforts helped Oklahoma solidify their victory, as they outscored East Texas A&M 46-23 in the second half.

Oklahoma demonstrated solid shooting stats, hitting 47.5% of their shots from the field and making 31.3% of their three-point attempts, going 10 of 32. They excelled at the free-throw line as well, sinking 18 of 22 attempts. In contrast, the Lions struggled offensively, finishing the game with a shooting percentage of 37.7%, converting only 7 of 32 from three-point territory and 9 of 17 from the free-throw line.

Looking ahead, the Sooners will be participating in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, where they are set to play three consecutive games. Their opening match will be against Providence on Wednesday.
