CHARLESTON, S.C. – In a thrilling conclusion to the Charleston Classic on Thursday night, Chaunce Jenkins played a pivotal role in Seton Hall’s victory over VCU, contributing five of his 22 points during overtime to secure a 69-66 win. This match marked the first defeat of the season for the Rams.
In addition to Jenkins’ scoring, he also recorded five rebounds, showcasing his all-around contribution to the Pirates’ performance. Isaiah Coleman made a significant impact with a double-double, scoring 12 points and capturing 10 rebounds. David Tubek stayed sharp from the perimeter, going a perfect 3 for 3 on three-point attempts to finish with nine points.
On the opposing side, VCU was spearheaded by Max Shulga, who netted 20 points and made two steals. Shulga’s last-second layup tied the game at 61, sending it into overtime. Zeb Jackson also had a notable game, contributing 15 points and three steals, while Joe Bamisile added 13 points for the Rams.
Seton Hall struggled in the first half, trailing 28-25 at the break, with Coleman scoring six points. However, Jenkins’ explosive second half performance, marked by 17 points, propelled the Pirates to victory.
Looking ahead, Seton Hall will compete against Monmouth at home on Saturday, while VCU will play host to Elizabeth City State in their next matchup on Friday.
