RALEIGH, N.C. — In an impressive showing on Thursday, Aziaha James led the NC State Wolfpack with 21 points, alongside eight rebounds and five assists, while Devyn Quigley contributed a career-best with 20 points, including four successful three-pointers, as NC State soundly defeated Coastal Carolina with a final score of 89-68.

The match saw NC State’s lead reduced to just eight points at 54-46 midway through the third quarter. However, James swiftly responded by scoring five consecutive points, igniting a dominant 13-2 run that ultimately pushed the Wolfpack’s advantage to 19 points. In the fourth quarter, Quigley took charge, adding three three-pointers and racking up 15 points to bolster the team’s commanding lead.

During a crucial stretch around the end of the third, Coastal Carolina struggled significantly, managing to make only two baskets out of 13 attempts while NC State expanded their lead. Madison Hayes also made a notable contribution for the Wolfpack, scoring 18 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting performance. Impressively, James has now scored more than 20 points in three consecutive games. The team demonstrated their offensive prowess, shooting 50% overall from the field, including hitting 11 out of 29 from beyond the arc.

In the first half, Hayes sank her third three-pointer with just 1:12 remaining, pushing NC State ahead 47-32. However, Savannah Brooks of Coastal Carolina managed to hit a basket just before the halftime buzzer, finishing the half with 17 points and narrowing the score to 47-36.

Throughout the game, Brooks was a standout for Coastal Carolina, scoring 14 of the team’s first 26 points and finishing the contest with a total of 25 points. Alancia Ramsey also made a solid contribution, scoring 13 points for Coastal Carolina, who had been predicted to finish ninth in the Sun Belt Conference this season.

Looking ahead, the Wolfpack are set to travel to the Bahamas to compete in the Pink Flamingo Championship against Southern on Monday, while Coastal Carolina will face Division II opponent Coker on Wednesday.
