STUTTGART, Germany — The Stuttgart football club has announced that their forward Deniz Undav is likely to miss the remainder of the year due to a muscle injury sustained during training.
The 28-year-old player suffered the injury just a day prior to the announcement, and subsequent medical examinations confirmed that he will be sidelined for at least several weeks.
Undav has not appeared in a match since November 6, when Stuttgart faced Atalanta and lost 2-0 in the Champions League. He had to leave that match early due to a hamstring issue, which also prevented him from participating in Germany’s international fixtures in the recent break.
Stuttgart’s coach, Sebastian Hoeneß, mentioned the uncertainty surrounding Undav’s return, stating, “It’s going to have to go well if we’re going to see him on a field again this year.”
This season, Undav has made a significant impact in the Bundesliga, accumulating five goals across nine appearances.
The club faces a busy schedule ahead, with eight matches set to be played before the league’s winter break begins on December 22.
