Nate Santos recorded an impressive 23 points, contributing significantly to Dayton’s 74-53 victory over New Mexico State on Wednesday evening.
Santos also grabbed eight rebounds, showcasing his all-around game for the Flyers, who improved to a perfect 5-0 this season. Amael L’Etang was another key player, adding 11 points with an efficient shooting night, going 4 of 6 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free-throw line. Zed Key also made his presence felt, finishing with 10 points, hitting 4 of 7 shots, while converting 2 of 5 attempts from the charity stripe.
On the other side, Peter Filipovity was the standout for the Aggies, scoring 15 points and securing seven rebounds. Robert Carpenter offered his support with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Christian Cook chipped in with nine points for New Mexico State, who now sit at 3-1.
Dayton seized the lead in the final minute of the first half and maintained control for the remainder of the game. L’Etang was pivotal in the opening half, leading the Flyers with six points, allowing them to head into halftime ahead 29-28. In a dominant second half, Santos exploded for 18 points, propelling Dayton as they outscored their opponents by 20 points in the final twenty minutes of play, ultimately sealing the win.
