WEST POINT, N.Y. — In an exciting matchup at the Metro NY/NJ Classic, Army triumphed over Fairleigh Dickinson with a score of 84-70 on Wednesday night, propelled by a standout performance from Josh Scovens who tallied 21 points.
Scovens further contributed to the Black Knights’ effort by securing seven rebounds, showcasing his versatility on the court. Jalen Rucker also played a significant role for Army, scoring 19 points despite a challenging shooting night; he managed to hit only 6 out of 18 attempts, including just 1 of 8 from long range. Nonetheless, he excelled at the free-throw line, converting 6 of 7, and added six rebounds and five assists to his tally. Additionally, Jorn Everson had a solid outing with 13 points, efficiently hitting 5 of 7 shots, including making 3 of 4 from three-point territory.
For Fairleigh Dickinson, Terrence Brown led the squad with an impressive performance, scoring 26 points and providing four assists. Jo’el Emanuel contributed 12 points along with nine rebounds, while Ahmed Barba-Bey added eight points and six rebounds.
The game saw Army take the advantage early, establishing a lead just 17:30 into the first half that they would maintain throughout. By halftime, Army was up 41-31, thanks in part to Rucker’s 12 first-half points. As the second half unfolded, Army expanded their lead to 54-40, highlighted by a decisive 7-0 scoring run. Scovens continued his strong play, scoring 13 points in the second half to help seal the victory for Army.
With this victory, Army moves to 3-2 for the season, while Fairleigh Dickinson falls to 2-4. The matchup served as a competitive display of talent, with both teams showcasing their skills in a high-scoring affair.
