Yale University secured a convincing 86-64 victory over Stony Brook University in a basketball matchup on Wednesday evening.
John Poulakidas was a standout player for the Bulldogs, scoring 22 points, making an impressive 8 of 12 shots from the floor, which included 4 of 6 from beyond the arc.
Adding to the team’s efforts, Nick Townsend contributed 18 points. He demonstrated his scoring ability by hitting 7 of 12 attempts and making 2 of 4 free throws, along with grabbing nine rebounds and providing five assists.
Yassine Gharram also made significant contributions, finishing the game with 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting.
On the other side, the Seawolves were led by Joseph Octave, who recorded 18 points, alongside six rebounds and three blocks. CJ Luster II also helped the cause with 16 points for Stony Brook.
Yale took control of the game early, heading into halftime with a 48-28 lead. Poulakidas notably scored 15 of his points by that intermission.
The Bulldogs expanded their advantage in the second half with a quick 7-0 run, pushing their lead from 20 to 27 points. Gharram emerged as a crucial player in the latter half, leading his team with eight points.
Overall, Yale improved their record to 3-3 with this win, while Stony Brook fell to 2-3 for the season.
