CHARLESTON, S.C. — Ante Brzovic delivered a standout performance with 22 points, leading Charleston to a 76-61 victory over The Citadel in a game held on Wednesday evening.
Brzovic also showcased his versatility by grabbing 14 rebounds and contributing six assists for the Cougars, who now have a record of 4-1. Teammate Lazar Djokovic was impressive as well, scoring 20 points while adding five rebounds and making three steals. AJ Smith further bolstered the team’s performance with 15 points, hitting 5 of 13 shots from the field, including 1 for 4 from beyond the arc, and going 4 for 6 from the free-throw line.
On the other side, Keynan Davis was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, tallying 17 points alongside two steals. Brody Fox matched Davis with another 17 points and also recorded two steals for The Citadel. Meanwhile, Sola Adebisi contributed significantly with 11 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Charleston dominated the first half, heading into halftime with a 41-27 advantage, bolstered by Brzovic’s 14-point effort. The Cougars maintained their momentum into the second half, going on an 8-0 run that propelled their lead from 15 to 23 points. In the final half, Charleston continued to outpace The Citadel, finishing the half with a one-point edge while Djokovic led his team with 12 points in that period.
Overall, the Cougars showcased strong teamwork and individual performances, solidifying their standing early in the season.
