MILWAUKEE — On Wednesday, officials at Marquette University made the announcement that Kimo Ah Yun will be stepping into the role of president for the institution.

Ah Yun has been acting as president since June, following the passing of President Michael Lovell, who lost his fight with cancer while in Rome.

This appointment marks a significant moment as Ah Yun becomes the second layperson to take on the presidency of this Jesuit university. Lovell was the first individual in this capacity, as highlighted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Having joined Marquette in 2016, Ah Yun initially served as the dean of the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication. He then advanced to the position of provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in 2018, showcasing his significant experience within the university.
