BATON ROUGE, La. — In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, freshman Vyctorius Miller led the LSU Tigers to a 77-68 victory against Charleston Southern, contributing 19 points with a shooting performance of 9-of-14.
Alongside him, Jordan Sears added 15 points to the scoreboard while Dji Bailey made his mark with 11 points, all coming in a strong second-half effort, hitting 5 of 6 shots. LSU now boasts a perfect record of 4-0 this season.
Taje’ Kelly made a pivotal jump shot for Charleston Southern that put his team ahead by two points with just under ten minutes remaining. However, that lead was short-lived as Miller quickly responded with a powerful dunk, igniting a 14-0 scoring run that extended LSU’s lead to 70-58 with about six minutes left in the game. During this crucial stretch, Charleston Southern struggled, missing seven consecutive shots and turning the ball over three times, which ultimately allowed LSU to secure the win.
For the Buccaneers, Daylen Berry was a standout player, recording a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Taje’ Kelly ended the contest with 15 points, while RJ Johnson contributed 14 points to the effort.
LSU demonstrated a solid shooting performance with 51% accuracy (30 of 59) from the field, which helped them fend off the Buccaneers’ challenges. Charleston Southern capitalized on LSU’s mistakes, scoring 22 points from 11 turnovers, and held an 18-13 edge in offensive rebounds, which translated to a significant 21-10 advantage in second-chance points.
