LINCOLN, Neb. — Callin Hake stood out with a career-high 17 points while Jessica Petrie contributed 14 points, also a personal best, as the No. 21 Nebraska Cornhuskers triumphed over North Alabama with an impressive score of 85-48 on Tuesday evening.

The game kicked off with North Alabama netting the first basket. However, they struggled after that, making only 2 of their first 16 attempts. Nebraska ended the first quarter strong, going on a 10-point run, six of which came from Hake, establishing a clear lead at 15-4.

As the second quarter commenced, the Cornhuskers continued their offensive surge, scoring the initial four points and igniting a 12-0 run which featured two three-pointers from Kendall Moriarty, along with four free throws by Hake. The score at halftime was 36-16 in favor of Nebraska.

Britt Prince and Alberte Rimdal each provided 13 points for the Cornhuskers (5-0), who shot 38% from beyond the arc, going 8 of 21 on three-point attempts. This performance followed their previous game where they set a school record by hitting 20 three-pointers at a remarkable 59% shooting accuracy. Alex Markowski contributed another 10 points to the Cornhuskers’ tally.

On the opposing side, Jazzy Klinge led North Alabama (2-3) with 11 points, while Charity Gallegos added 10 points. Overall, Nebraska achieved a shooting percentage of 48% and excelled at the free-throw line, converting 15 of 19 attempts while dominating the boards with a 48-32 rebounding edge. North Alabama managed to shoot 49% from three-point range, hitting 7 of 18, but struggled overall, making only 17 of 59 shots, which amounts to 29%.

The next challenge for the Cornhuskers is an away game against in-state rival Creighton on Friday.
