LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On Tuesday night, the Louisville Cardinals put forth an impressive performance, dominating their city rival, the Bellarmine Knights, with a score of 100-68. Terrence Edwards Jr. led the Cardinals with 26 points, while Kasean Pryor contributed significantly with 21 points.

The duo of Edwards and Pryor showcased their talents in the opening half, where they collectively scored 27 points, propelling Louisville to a solid 53-29 lead at halftime. Ben Johnson, a standout player for Bellarmine, managed to score 10 points, making four of the team’s total 11 field goals in the first half.

Johnson made a strong effort to rally his team by scoring nine consecutive points, all from beyond the three-point line, narrowing the score to 61-46 with just over 11 minutes left in the game. However, the Knights could not close the gap any further. Pryor increased the Cardinals’ lead to 74-53 with 8:40 left, and Louisville maintained a lead of over 20 points for the remainder of the contest.

In addition to Edwards and Pryor, Chucky Hepburn added 16 points to Louisville’s tally, while James Scott and J’Vonne Hadley both contributed 10 points each, helping the team improve to 2-1 after a lengthy break following a defeat to No. 12 Tennessee.

For the Knights, Johnson emerged as the top scorer, finishing the game with 29 points and hitting six three-pointers, with Billy Smith supporting the effort by adding 15 points.

Historically, the rivalry between Louisville and Bellarmine dates back to 1960, with Louisville holding a commanding 14-1 edge in the win column.

Looking ahead, Louisville’s next matchup will be against Winthrop on Friday, followed by a trip to Nassau, Bahamas, where they will face No. 16 Indiana as part of the Battle 4 Atlantis. Meanwhile, Bellarmine will be seeking their first win of the season as they take on Bowling Green this Saturday.
