ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bulldogs maintained their undefeated status with a commanding 93-45 victory over Alabama A&M on Tuesday evening. Asa Newell led the way for Georgia, contributing 17 points, while Silas Demary Jr. added 15 to the impressive tally.
Newell, a freshman forward currently averaging 16.8 points per game, showcased his shooting prowess by hitting seven of his eight attempts from the field. Meanwhile, Demary demonstrated effective free-throw shooting, converting nine out of eleven. This victory marked Georgia’s fifth consecutive win, as they improved their record to 5-0 and extended their home winning streak against nonconference teams to an impressive 22 games.
In addition to Newell and Demary, Georgia’s Tyrin Lawrence contributed 12 points and recorded six steals, while Somto Cyril posted 11 points alongside nine rebounds. The Bulldogs exhibited remarkable offensive efficiency, shooting 53% from the field, sinking nine three-pointers, and converting 28 of their 41 free-throw attempts. On the boards, Georgia dominated with a 25-rebound advantage.
On the other side, Dylan McLean led Alabama A&M with 11 points. The Bulldogs faced a tough challenge against a team that previously averaged 99.5 points per game, ranking fifth nationally. However, Alabama A&M struggled significantly during the match, shooting only 30% compared to Georgia’s stellar performance.
At halftime, Georgia held a comfortable 46-25 lead, with Demary contributing 10 points in the first half. The second half saw Georgia soar further ahead with a dominant 21-4 run, initiated by Blue Cain, who hit three consecutive three-pointers. This surge effectively sealed the game for the Bulldogs as they cruised to victory.
