MADISON, Wis. — On Tuesday, Wisconsin Democrats reappointed Greta Neubauer as the leader of the Assembly minority. This decision comes after her successful efforts in the recent elections, where the party managed to secure nearly a dozen seat gains.
During a caucus meeting held at the state Capitol, Assembly Democrats collectively chose Neubauer to continue in her leadership role.
Neubauer, who has been representing a portion of southern Racine County since her election to the Assembly in 2018, assumes her position as minority leader again after first taking on the role in 2021.
In the elections held on November 5, Neubauer played a significant role in assisting Democrats to flip ten Republican-held Assembly districts. This led to a reduction of the GOP’s majority in the chamber, which now stands at 54-44 for this session. Important changes to district boundaries that were signed into law by Democratic Governor Tony Evers earlier this year significantly contributed to this Democratic advancement.
In her statement regarding the future direction of the party, Neubauer indicated that the Democrats’ policy initiatives would aim to embody “the will of the people.” However, she did not provide specific details about what those policies might entail.
