Two staff members were injured in a stabbing incident at a middle school in northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday, according to local authorities and the principal of the school.
Law enforcement responded shortly after noon to reports of an individual wielding a weapon at Castor Garden Middle School. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 63-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the left side and a 31-year-old woman who sustained injuries to her right arm. The older victim was transported to a hospital for treatment, though her condition was not disclosed immediately. Meanwhile, the younger victim declined to receive any medical assistance.
Police confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody and a weapon used in the incident was recovered. As of now, no further details about the suspected individual or the events leading up to the stabbing have been provided.
