Shaun White is set to launch a new action-sports league that will be televised on NBC starting next year.

Earlier this year, White shared his plans for The Snow League, which will consist of four events focused on halfpipe snowboarding and freeskiing. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the inaugural event will take place in Aspen on March 7-8, while additional dates are still in the works.

The league is expected to feature 20 male and 16 female competitors at each competition, with a total prize purse exceeding $1.5 million during its first season. A roster of participating athletes is anticipated to be revealed later this year.

The Aspen opening will occur nearly a year before the Winter Olympics in Italy, an event that NBC will also broadcast.

White, a three-time Olympic gold medalist who concluded his competitive career after the 2022 Beijing Games, explained that one of the primary motivations for creating this league is to unify top action-sports athletes, who typically compete across various circuits such as the Dew Tour, Grand Prix, and X Games.

“Our goal is to establish ourselves as the pinnacle of the sport. Competing in the Olympics and landing a medal is incredible, but we aim to achieve a status akin to winning Wimbledon or the NBA finals. This could even surpass those in prestige,” White stated in an interview earlier this year.
