BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In an impressive display of skill, Ja’Borri McGhee scored 25 points to lead UAB in a commanding 109-64 win over Auburn-Montgomery on Monday evening.
McGhee contributed six assists to the Blazers’ effort, improving their season record to 3-2. Teammate Bradley Ezewiro also had a standout performance, scoring 17 points while going a perfect six for six from the field and five for five at the free-throw line, additionally grabbing 11 rebounds. Christian Coleman added to the scoring with 16 points after shooting 8 of 11 from the floor.
On the other side, Gilbert Croley was the top scorer for the Warhawks, finishing with 16 points, four assists, and five steals. Teammate Trent Coleman contributed with 11 points and two steals, while Chappelle Whitney chipped in with eight points.
UAB took command of the game with 7:54 remaining in the first half, and they maintained that lead throughout. By halftime, the Blazers were ahead 49-30, with Christian Coleman having scored 10 points by that point. The second half saw UAB pull away even further, thanks to a dominant 17-2 run that increased their cushion from 20 to a whopping 35 points. McGhee led the charge in the final half, scoring 17 points and helping to propel UAB to a 26-point advantage over Auburn-Montgomery in the second half alone.
Looking ahead, UAB will face Longwood in their next game this coming Friday.
