BATON ROUGE, La. — In a dominating performance, Flau’jae Johnson tallied 27 points while Aneesah Morrow contributed a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds as seventh-ranked LSU triumphed over Troy, 98-59, on Monday night.

Johnson also showcased her versatility with nine rebounds and five assists, scoring 19 of her total points in a commanding first half that saw the Tigers take a 58-24 lead by halftime. Morrow achieved her 78th career double-double in this outing. Additionally, Mikaylah Williams added 14 points to the scoreboard, while Jersey Wolfenbarger followed closely with 12 points.

On the other side, Troy, struggling this season with a record of 1-4, found its leading scorer in Ashley Baez, who managed to score 12 points, while teammate Fortuna Ngnawo chipped in with 10 points.

Key Insights:

Troy put forth a solid effort, yet was ultimately unable to present a real challenge to an aggressive LSU team. The Tigers, having previously allowed Murray State to maintain the lead for over 18 minutes in a comeback victory on Friday, quickly seized control from the start of this game.

A significant turning point came in the early seconds of the match. Improved focus on defensive rotations allowed LSU to build a double-digit lead within the first three minutes. The first quarter ended with the Tigers holding a commanding 21-point advantage, capitalizing on 18 points generated from 10 turnovers committed by Troy.

Stat Highlights:

Senior guard Last Tear-Poa took center stage by drawing three charges—her first of the season—in the game. This was only Poa’s second game of the year, as she had missed the initial three for personal reasons. It was confirmed by LSU head coach Kim Mulkey that her absence was not linked to a legal battle over her visa status. Currently holding an F-1 student visa that restricts non-study-related employment, Poa is unable to earn NIL income.

Looking Ahead:

Troy is set to participate in the Great Alaskan Shootout on Friday, beginning with a matchup against Alaska-Anchorage. Meanwhile, LSU will welcome Tulane to their home court on Wednesday, marking the conclusion of their six-game homestand to start the season.
