PITTSBURGH — In an impressive display, Ismael Leggett contributed 14 points, while Jaland Lowe recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, as the University of Pittsburgh secured its fourth consecutive home victory this season by overwhelming VMI during the Greenbrier Tip-Off home game on Monday night.

VMI recently wrapped up its participation in the tournament’s River Division, having suffered a narrow defeat against Tennessee Tech with a score of 72-71 on Friday. They bounced back by defeating Charleston Southern 80-69 to clinch third place. Next, the Panthers are set to travel to the Greenbrier Resort located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, on Friday to compete against LSU, and they will face either Wisconsin or UCF on Sunday.

All five of Pittsburgh’s starters managed to score in double digits, with Jorge Diaz Graham contributing 12 points off the bench. Leggett, who has been a consistent scorer, hit 6 of 9 shots during the game, although his run of three consecutive games scoring at least 15 points came to an end. Guillermo Diaz Graham tallied 13 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Cameron Corhen enjoyed a flawless shooting night, making all five of his shots along with two free throws for a total of 12 points. Additionally, Damian Dunn chipped in with 11 points.

The Keydets (4-2) found themselves trailing by double digits before managing to score, with Linus Holmstrom sinking a three-pointer at the 14:25 mark to bring the score to 10-3. Another three-pointer from Holmstrom with 5:56 remaining in the first half narrowed the score to just three points. However, the Panthers quickly responded, scoring nine consecutive points and completing an 18-2 run to take a commanding 39-20 lead into halftime.

Holmstrom led VMI with 15 points, managing to hit 3 of 8 from beyond the arc while coming off the bench. TJ Johnson also made a contribution with 12 points.
