ANN ARBOR, Mich. — In a thrilling match during the Fort Myers Tipoff tournament, Michigan showcased impressive skill with a decisive 94-67 victory over Miami (OH). Nimari Burnett led the team with a season-high 18 points, while Tre Donaldson, a transfer from Auburn, matched his career-best by contributing 16 points to the win. This strong performance was particularly evident in the second half, where Michigan accelerated away from their opponents after a tight first half.

The Wolverines entered the halftime break with a solid eight-point lead at 44-36. They wasted no time building on that advantage, starting the second half with an explosive 8-0 run that began with a jumper from Burnett followed by a three-pointer from Roddy Gayle Jr. Michigan’s offensive momentum was further amplified as they went on to score eight three-point shots in the final 20 minutes, showcasing their powerful shooting capabilities.

Overall, Michigan boasted a shooting efficiency of 58.3% from the field, making 35 of their 60 attempts, and an impressive 48.3% from the three-point line, sinking 14 of 29 shots. The Wolverines now stand with a 3-1 record as they embark on the Dusty May era, celebrating a perfect 3-0 record on their home court. Donaldson has made an instant impact, scoring in double figures in all four of his games this season, while Burnett shot a remarkable 7 for 10, including 4 for 7 from beyond the arc. He also contributed four assists, a portion of the team’s total of 23 assists on their 35 baskets.

From the bench, L.J. Cason added 11 points, and Gayle contributed 10 points along with five assists to bolster the team’s coherence. Vladislav Goldin, celebrating a milestone of surpassing 1,200 career points, finished the match with eight points, six rebounds, and two assists.
