The Supreme Court affirmed the campaign contribution disclosure rules endorsed by Alaska voters through a ballot measure in 2020.
On Monday, the justices opted not to engage with the appeals from donors who argued that the mandated disclaimers for advertisements, along with the requirement to report contributions exceeding $2,000 to or from third-party entities, were unconstitutional.
The lower courts had previously upheld these regulations, which are integral to a broader electoral reform initiative passed by Alaskan voters in 2020.
The measure not only introduced these disclosure rules but also implemented changes such as open primaries and ranked choice voting in general elections, both of which have faced legal challenges in the state courts but remain intact.
