Reports of the explosion emerged on Sunday morning, with the blast reportedly being felt across the entire Union County area, as stated by the sheriff’s office. When first responders arrived at the scene, they observed substantial damage to a section of the residence.
A man who was present in the house at the time of the explosion sustained burn injuries and was promptly transported to a hospital in Winston-Salem, where he was reported to be in stable condition by Sunday night. His wife also received medical attention at a different hospital and was later discharged. Both individuals are anticipated to make a full recovery from their injuries.
Local officials indicated that while they currently believe the explosion to be accidental in nature, the investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.
