In a thrilling game on Sunday night, Great Osobor delivered an outstanding performance, contributing 15 of his career-best 23 points during the second half. His efforts were crucial in leading Washington to a narrow 74-69 victory over UMass Lowell, marking the inaugural matchup between the two teams.
Besides Osobor’s remarkable outing, Washington had other key contributors, including Tyree Ihenacho, freshman Zoom Diallo, and Tyler Harris, who each scored 12 points. Luis Kortright also made an impact with 10 points, seven rebounds, and a career-high five blocks. Harris, a sophomore transfer from Portland, recorded an impressive defensive performance, having amassed 12 of his 13 blocks in the last three games alone.
On the opposing side, Yuri Covington led UML with 19 points, while Quinton Mincey added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Morris III and Max Brooks also made their mark, chipping in 13 and 10 points, respectively, with Brooks shooting an impressive 5-for-6.
The game saw Washington take control late in the fourth quarter. DJ Davis sparked a crucial scoring run with a three-pointer, followed by Osobor’s four-point contribution. Kortright capped off a 9-2 run, giving the Huskies a comfortable 69-60 lead with just over three minutes remaining. Although Covington narrowed the deficit with a three-point play, Kortright managed to convert one of his free throws before Osobor sealed the win with a dunk, pushing the score to 74-67 with just four seconds left on the clock.
Morris played a pivotal role early in the second half, scoring six points during an 11-4 run that allowed UML to momentarily take a two-point lead. However, Kortright quickly responded with a layup, and shortly after, Diallo—a standout player from nearby Curtis High School—made a free throw to reestablish the Huskies’ lead at 49-48. From that moment on, Washington maintained their advantage for the remainder of the game.
