In a thrilling matchup on Sunday, N.C. A&T emerged victorious against The Citadel with a final score of 82-73, thanks in part to a standout performance by Ryan Forrest, who tallied an impressive 26 points.
Forrest displayed his scoring prowess by hitting 9 of his 20 attempts from the field and converting 8 out of 9 free throws, contributing significantly to the Aggies’ effort, which improved their record to 2-2 for the season.
Supporting Forrest, Jahnathan Lamothe added 18 points using an efficient shooting performance, going 5 for 8 overall, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, alongside completing 5 out of 6 from the charity stripe. Lamothe also contributed defensively, recording three steals. Additionally, Camian Shell had a perfect shooting day, going 3 for 3 in the field and sinking 6 out of 7 free throws to finish with 12 points.
On the other side, The Citadel, now at 3-2, was led by Brody Fox, who impressed with 25 points and seven rebounds. His efforts were bolstered by Cameron Glover, who added 17 points, and Keynan Davis, who chipped in with seven points.
The first half saw a competitive contest, with Forrest scoring 12 points, as N.C. A&T went into the locker room at halftime behind with a score of 39-36.
However, the Aggies came out strong in the second half, launching a decisive 9-0 run that broke a 64-64 deadlock, allowing them to establish a 73-64 advantage with 6:52 left on the clock. Forrest was instrumental during this pivotal stretch, scoring 14 points in the second half to secure the win for his team.
