Stanford’s Jzaniya Harriel attempted to bring the Cardinal closer with two free throws, making the score 26-24 with eight minutes remaining in the first half. However, Indiana responded decisively, launching a 14-0 run to extend their lead to 40-26. A late jumper from Mary Ashley Stevenson for Stanford narrowed the gap to 42-31 by halftime.
In the third quarter, Elena Bosgana’s three-point play brought Stanford within nine points at 43-34, followed by Nunu Agara’s layup which cut the margin to eight. Nevertheless, Garzon countered with consecutive 3-pointers, and Moore-McNeil added a layup, reclaiming a 17-point lead for the Hoosiers. Henna Sandvik’s free throws late in the quarter established Indiana’s largest lead of the game at 57-38.
Throughout the game, Indiana showcased strong shooting, finishing with a 49% conversion rate from the field, making 25 of 51 attempts. They were particularly effective from the three-point range, hitting 9 of 19 attempts, and were also accurate from the free-throw line, converting 20 of 24 opportunities. Alongside Moore-McNeil’s 21 points and four steals, Shay Ciezki contributed with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, while Garzon also had a noteworthy performance.
For Stanford, Agara was the standout performer, scoring 15 points along with four assists. Brooke Demetre provided support with 14 points and seven rebounds, while both Courtney Ogden and Chloe Clardy each contributed 10 points from the bench. As a team, the Cardinal achieved a 40% shooting efficiency, making 26 of 65 attempts, but struggled from the three-point range, sinking only 2 of 11 shots.
Next, Indiana is set to travel to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, with their first-round matchup against Columbia scheduled for Saturday. Meanwhile, Stanford will return home to host Morgan State on Friday.
