KALAMAZOO, Mich. — In an impressive performance on Sunday, Markhi Strickland contributed significantly to Western Michigan’s decisive 92-69 triumph over Canisius.
Strickland finished with a total of 15 points, achieving an efficient shooting rate of 6 out of 9 and hitting 2 of 4 from the foul line for the Broncos, who now hold a record of 2-3.
Owen Lobsinger also made his mark on the game, scoring 14 points with a shooting line of 5 for 9, which included 3 for 6 from three-point territory, while also contributing nine rebounds.
Brandon Muntu matched Lobsinger’s 14 points and shot similarly well, going 5 of 9 from the field and sinking 4 out of 8 attempts from beyond the arc.
On the opposing side, Paul McMillan IV stood out with a stellar game, putting up 23 points, alongside six rebounds, four assists, and two steals for Canisius, who remain winless at 0-5.
Teammate Tana Kopa added a further 12 points while Cam Palesse supported with 10 points and four assists.
Western Michigan seized control of the game with just over eleven minutes left in the first half and never looked back.
Strickland shone in the opening half with nine points, aiding the Broncos to a solid 41-24 advantage at halftime.
The Broncos escalated their lead in the second half, embarking on a dominant 7-0 run that expanded their margin from 23 to 30 points.
They maintained a six-point edge over Canisius in the second half, with Muntu spearheading the effort by scoring 11 points after the break.
