SAN MARCOS, Texas — In a dominating performance, Jordan McCloud connected on four touchdown passes as Texas State overwhelmed Southern Miss with a score of 58-3 on Saturday night. The Bobcats showcased their offensive prowess, accumulating an impressive 703 yards and converting on nine out of their eleven possessions.
McCloud displayed remarkable accuracy, completing 23 of 28 passes for a total of 335 yards, including two touchdown throws to Ismail Mahdi. Additionally, Brad Jackson contributed to the scoring with both a touchdown pass and a rushing touchdown, leading Texas State to a solid 5-4 record overall and 3-2 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The receiving corps also had a significant impact, with Kole Wilson making six receptions for 116 yards. Teammates Konner Fox, Jaden Williams, and Drew Donley each added a touchdown reception to the tally, further highlighting the team’s offensive depth.
The game concluded with a highlight reel moment when Lincoln Pare broke free for a spectacular 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, rounding out the scoring for Texas State. On the other side, Southern Miss managed only a single field goal, courtesy of Connor Gibbs from 39 yards out in the second quarter. The Golden Eagles struggled throughout the game, ending with just 194 total yards of offense. Rodrigues Clark was the leading rusher for Southern Miss, carrying the ball 15 times for 66 yards.
