KALAMAZOO, Mich. — In an impressive performance, Brian Taylor II led the way for SIU-Edwardsville, scoring 23 points as the Cougars triumphed over Canisius with a score of 76-58 on Saturday evening.

Taylor’s efforts were complemented by his six rebounds, helping the Cougars improve their record to 4-2 for the season. Additionally, Desmond Polk made a significant impact by netting 15 points, shooting 50 percent from three-point range with five successful shots out of ten attempts. Darrion Baker also contributed to the team’s offensive success, finishing with 12 points after hitting five of his six shot attempts from the field.

On the other side, Paul McMillan IV was the standout scorer for the Golden Griffins, posting 18 points. Tana Kopa supported the effort with 12 points but it was not enough to secure their first win, leaving Canisius with a record of 0-4.

This matchup showcased the strength of SIU-Edwardsville, particularly through Taylor’s leadership and the contributions from his teammates, which ultimately led them to a comfortable victory on their home court.
