LOGAN, Utah — In a dominant display, Utah State delivered a resounding 55-10 victory over Hawaii in a Mountain West Conference matchup on Saturday. The Aggies’ offense flourished as Spencer Petras and Bryson Barnes each tossed two touchdown passes, while Rahsul Faison highlighted the rushing attack with two impressive 37-yard touchdown runs. The Aggies’ defense also made a significant impact, nabbing five interceptions throughout the game.
Utah State (3-7, 2-3) established control early, racking up 24 points consecutively in the first half before Hawaii was able to respond with a 40-yard field goal from Kansei Matsuzawa, bringing the score to 24-3 at halftime.
Petras opened the scoring just moments into the game with a 41-yard touchdown pass to Otto Tia. Following this, Tanner Cragun added a 32-yard field goal, and Petras connected with Will Monney on a 16-yard touchdown with just over a minute remaining in the first quarter, pushing the Aggies’ lead to 17-0. Barnes later found Josh Sterzer with a 2-yard touchdown pass, expanding the margin to 24-0. Faison’s touchdown runs came within four minutes of each other in the third quarter, and Derek Jameson capped off the scoring with a 21-yard run to bring the final tally to 52-3.
In the passing game, Petras completed 20 of 30 attempts for 255 yards, achieving two touchdowns but also throwing two interceptions. Barnes was efficient, completing both of his passes for touchdowns. Faison shined on the ground, amassing 191 yards on 20 carries along with his pair of touchdowns.
For Hawaii (4-7, 2-4), quarterback Brayden Schager completed 11 of 19 passes for 124 yards, but struggled with three interceptions. John-Keawe Sagapoulutele attempted five passes, completing two for 27 yards, while also being intercepted twice.
This overwhelming victory marks a significant moment for the Aggies, showing both offensive prowess and defensive strength as they continue their season in the Mountain West Conference.
