WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — In an exciting matchup during the Greenbrier Tip-Off River Division Championship game on Saturday, UT Rio Grande Valley emerged victorious over Tennessee Tech with an impressive score of 83-58. Hasan Abdul-Hakim played a key role in the Vaqueros’ success, contributing 15 points and securing five rebounds.
Trey Miller also made a significant impact, scoring 12 points while shooting 4 for 10 from the field, which included one successful three-pointer out of four attempts. Additionally, he demonstrated efficiency at the free-throw line, sinking three of four shots. Howard Fleming Jr. joined the scoring effort by going a perfect 5 for 5 from the field, finishing the game with 11 points and nearly achieving a double-double by grabbing nine rebounds.
On the other side, the Golden Eagles saw their top scorer, Jaylon Johnson, rack up 13 points along with two steals. His efforts were complemented by Rodney Johnson Jr., who contributed 12 points and also recorded two steals. Matthew Sells added to their score sheet with nine points, but it wasn’t enough to clinch a win against the Vaqueros.
