PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Jacorian Sewell opened the scoring with a remarkable 58-yard touchdown run, leading to a 26-13 victory for Alcorn State over Prairie View A&M.

The Braves demonstrated a strong performance throughout the game, as Tre Lawrence connected with Caleb Anderson for a 16-yard touchdown pass. Additionally, Tavarious Griffin contributed with a 22-yard touchdown run, showcasing the depth of Alcorn State’s offense. The team’s record now stands at 6-5 overall and 5-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Though Alcorn State initially took a commanding 13-0 lead thanks to Sewell’s impressive run and NJoah Kiani’s successful field goals from 50 and 36 yards, Prairie View A&M managed to respond. Cobi Cavil electrified the crowd with a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown, putting the Panthers on the board.

Despite the Panthers’ efforts, which included Guillermo Garcia Rodriguez making two field goals in the third quarter, Griffin’s effective run solidified Alcorn State’s lead and effectively sealed the game. The Panthers’ current record stands at 5-6 for the season and 3-4 within the conference.

In summary, Alcorn State’s defense played a pivotal role in limiting Prairie View A&M’s offensive capabilities, helping them secure a crucial win in their conference standings.
