INDIANAPOLIS — In an exciting matchup, Butler University triumphed over St. Thomas-Minnesota with a score of 36-20 on Saturday afternoon. Nick Howard was instrumental in the victory, throwing for one touchdown and adding three rushing touchdowns to his credit. His rushing efforts included runs of two, five, and an impressive 28 yards. Additionally, Howard connected with Trevon Brown for a 20-yard touchdown pass, showcasing his versatility as a quarterback.

The St. Thomas offense struggled against Butler’s defense, with quarterbacks Tak Tateoka and Michael Rostberg both throwing two interceptions each. Defensively, Devaon Holman made a crucial interception just before the half. Jeremiah Jackson also contributed to the defense with his third interception of the season.

To start the second half, St. Thomas attempted an onside kick but failed to gain possession as the ball did not go the required distance. Capitalizing on the situation, Butler managed a swift drive covering 36 yards, culminating in Howard scoring from the two-yard line, extending their lead to 20-7.

Wide receiver Luke Wooten shone for Butler, leading the team with five receptions for a total of 111 yards and contributing a touchdown to the offense’s performance. Meanwhile, St. Thomas’s star running back, Hope Adebayo, who is regarded as one of the talents in the Pioneer Football League, found himself restricted to 61 rushing yards, with 40 of those yards coming from a single play.

As the regular season comes to a close, Butler will be heading to Presbyterian next weekend for their final game. St. Thomas, on the other hand, will be looking to secure their sixth win against Dayton, who holds a record of 6-4 this season.
