Trey Hedden threw for 210 yards and recorded two touchdown passes as Furman triumphed over East Tennessee State with a score of 24-21 on Saturday.
Although Furman was outgained 425-282, they managed to capitalize on ETSU’s three turnovers, which contributed 10 points to their final score.

Hedden’s pivotal moment came when he connected with Colton Hinton for a 31-yard touchdown reception, which tied the game at 21 with just 1:36 left in the third quarter.
The Paladins’ defense shone in the fourth quarter, with Billy Lewis and Maurice Perkins both securing interceptions of Gino English’s passes on consecutive ETSU possessions.
The second interception set up Ian Williams for a field goal, putting Furman ahead 24-21 with 9:08 left in the game.

The Furman defense continued to dominate, forcing ETSU to go three-and-out on their subsequent drive.
Hedden then orchestrated a methodical 14-play drive, which ultimately ended the game after taking a knee to run out the clock.
A crucial play came when Hinton made a defender miss and converted a fourth down, gaining 4 yards to extend the drive.

Myion Hicks contributed to Furman’s offense with a rushing touchdown, which followed an interception by Caleb Williams, giving the Paladins an early 14-7 advantage.
Devontae Houston had a strong performance for ETSU, rushing for 103 yards and scoring one touchdown.

As Furman prepares to conclude its season against Mercer next week, ETSU will face off against VMI, a team that has had just one victory this season.
