NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — In an exhilarating game on Saturday, Isaac Boston snagged a two-point conversion pass that ricocheted off the helmet of one of his linemen, granting Central Connecticut State a thrilling 35-33 victory in double overtime against Robert Morris. This hard-fought win secured their spot in the conference championship game.

With this victory, the Blue Devils (6-5 overall, 4-1 in the conference) now prepare to host Duquesne, who has remained undefeated in the Northeast Conference. The upcoming clash is essential as it will determine the league’s automatic berth to the FCS playoffs for the winning team.

Boston’s decisive catch followed a touchdown run by Elijah Howard, which occurred during a clever double-reverse play. Earlier in the game, the Colonials had initially made their mark by scoring a touchdown in their second possession, although they were unable to convert a subsequent two-point attempt.

In what turned out to be a pivotal moment during overtime, Robert Morris intercepted a pass on the initial play but squandered the opportunity when Jayson Jenkins missed a field goal attempt. However, Jenkins did manage to kick a field goal just before the end of regulation, which helped tie the game at 33 points.

Adding to the excitement, Rob Carter Jr. had an impressive performance in the first half, highlighted by a 92-yard kickoff return alongside a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown, propelling the Colonials into a 17-10 lead at halftime. Despite facing a 24-10 deficit going into the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils fought back, thanks in part to a significant 49-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Christopher Jean, marking a remarkable turnaround in the match.
