TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have recently appointed David Bell, the former manager of the Cincinnati Reds, to the position of vice president of baseball operations and assistant general manager.
This announcement was made by the Blue Jays on Friday.
In his new role, Bell will be responsible for overseeing both player development as well as the departments focusing on physical and mental performance.
Additionally, he will play a key part in the team’s strategic planning, player evaluations, and the acquisition of new talent, according to the team’s statement.
Bell will report directly to Ross Atkins, who holds the title of executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager.
Prior to joining the Blue Jays, Bell managed the Reds for six seasons until he was let go with just five games remaining in the 2024 season.
His experience in the baseball world spans over a decade in various coaching and development roles with teams like the Reds, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants.
In addition to his coaching and management experience, Bell had a successful playing career, spending 12 seasons as an infielder across six different major league teams.
