Cox contributed significantly by netting nine of his 11 points during a pivotal 13-0 run in the second half. This surge helped No. 13 Purdue secure a victory over No. 2 Alabama with a final score of 87-78 on Friday evening.
The Boilermakers, now boasting a 4-0 record, have extended their home winning streak to 21 games and maintained an impressive 25 consecutive victories in November. Furthermore, the team has not faced defeat in a regular-season nonconference contest since December 2020.
In addition to Kaufman-Renn’s standout performance, Braden Smith contributed with 17 points and dished out 10 assists, climbing into third place on Purdue’s all-time assists leaderboard with a total of 483. Teammate Fletcher Loyer matched his scoring tally with 17 points as well.
