KALAMAZOO, Mich. — In a commanding performance, Ray’Sean Taylor scored 30 points, powering SIU-Edwardsville to a 79-60 victory over Western Michigan on Friday evening.
Taylor not only led the Cougars in scoring but also contributed significantly with seven assists, helping his team improve to a 3-2 overall record. Desmond Polk was another standout for SIU-Edwardsville, netting 16 points and shooting 50% from the field, including two successful three-point attempts out of seven tries. Additionally, Brian Taylor II added to the offensive effort, hitting 4 of 6 shots and finishing with 10 points, including two three-pointers.
On the other side of the court, Owen Lobsinger led the Broncos in scoring with 16 points as Western Michigan dropped to 1-3 for the season.
The Cougars held a solid lead at halftime, going into the break with a score of 43-29. Ray’Sean Taylor continued his momentum into the second half, adding 17 more points to his tally and further solidifying his team’s victory.
This matchup showcased the offensive strengths of SIU-Edwardsville as they executed their game plan effectively against a struggling Western Michigan squad.
