WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump announced on Friday that Steven Cheung has been appointed as the White House communications director, while Sergio Gor will oversee the personnel office. Both individuals have been key advisers to Trump since his campaign trail in 2016.
These roles are anticipated to be pivotal within the new administration, as they will play crucial parts in formulating the public relations strategy and managing the internal staffing processes.
Cheung previously led communications for Trump’s most recent campaign, where he became known for his aggressive and often confrontational approach towards opponents within the Republican Party. Originally from Sacramento, California, Cheung has a background in Republican politics and has experience working with the Ultimate Fighting Championship before he joined Trump’s team in 2016.
Sergio Gor has an extensive background as well; he co-founded Winning Team Publishing alongside Donald Trump Jr., which focuses on publishing works authored by Trump and his associates. Gor has also served as the leader of the super PAC Right for America, further displaying his political engagement.
Under Trump’s administration, the Presidential Personnel Office is expected to play a significant role in shaping the government staff, focusing on appointing loyal supporters. In his statement, Trump praised both Cheung and Gor as dependable advisors, expressing his excitement about their upcoming roles in his White House team.
