BALTIMORE — In a strong display of skill, UMBC triumphed over Coppin State with a convincing score of 92-67 on Thursday night.

Bryce Johnson was a standout player for the Retrievers, contributing 18 points to the team’s victory. He managed to hit 5 of his 11 shot attempts, including 3 out of 5 from three-point territory, and also converted 5 of his 11 free throws. Additionally, Marcus Banks supported the team’s effort with a solid 16 points, showcasing his accuracy with 6 of 10 shooting, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc, along with three steals. Devan Sapp rounded out the scoring for UMBC with 11 points, hitting 5 of 9 attempts from the field, though he struggled a bit with three-point shooting, making just 1 of 5.

On the other hand, the Eagles, who are still seeking their first win of the season at 0-5, found their top scorer in Jonathan Dunn. He recorded an impressive 22 points combined with six rebounds. Zahree Harrison also made a significant contribution, matching Dunn’s point total with another 22 points. Julius Ellerbe added to the team’s total with 15 points as well.

With this victory, UMBC improves to a 3-1 record, showcasing their strength as they continue to compete in the season.
