Baylor women’s basketball dominates East Texas A&M 104-55 with double-doubles from Littlepage-Bugg and Vonleh

WACO, Texas — In a dominant performance on Thursday night, the No. 17 Baylor women’s basketball team defeated East Texas A&M with a commanding score of 104-55. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs led the way with an impressive tally of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while teammate Aaronette Vonleh contributed significantly, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

In addition to their strong performances, Bella Fontleroy returned to the court after dealing with a sprained ankle, scoring 15 points for the Bears, who are now 2-1 this season. Jada Walker and Yaya Felder each chipped in 11 points, showcasing the depth of talent on the team.

However, the Bears will be without graduate senior Jana Van Gytenbeek for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury she sustained during the first game of the season.

Cora Horvath was the standout for East Texas A&M, scoring 22 points, but her efforts were not enough to keep pace with the Bears.

Baylor got off to a quick start, scoring the first eight points of the game and jumping out to a 12-2 lead within the first three and a half minutes. Although the Lions closed the gap to 23-18 by the end of the first quarter, Baylor opened the second quarter with a 10-0 run. They followed that up with a 12-0 run that pushed their lead past 20 points, closing out the first half with a substantial 51-28 advantage—Littlepage-Buggs had already scored 20 points and secured 10 rebounds by this point.

The Bears continued their prowess in the third quarter, scoring the final 11 points to extend their lead to 82-40.

Baylor showcased their efficiency on the court, shooting at 53% and dominating the boards with a 53-27 rebounding advantage that included 21 offensive rebounds, resulting in 24 second-chance points. Additionally, they capitalized on East Texas A&M’s mistakes, forcing 23 turnovers that converted into 33 points.

East Texas A&M struggled offensively, shooting only 34% from the floor despite successfully sinking half of their 14 attempts from beyond the arc.
