The NFL scouting combine will continue in Indianapolis until 2026 following a recent agreement announced by the state’s tourism office. This collaboration with the National Football League, which first began in 1987, has seen an extension from its original expiration in 2025.
“Indianapolis and the NFL Combine share a rich and storied relationship, and we are excited to extend our partnership with Visit Indy, the Indianapolis Colts, and the local community for this upcoming 2026 event,” mentioned Peter O’Reilly, the NFL’s executive vice president for club business and league events. He expressed appreciation for the decades-long collaboration, noting that local partners have successfully facilitated the evaluation of potential football talent. Efforts have been made to enhance the in-person fan experience, enabling thousands of attendees to engage closely with the league’s future stars.
The combine event saw a remarkable economic impact, generating $9.26 million in 2024, and drew over 27,200 fans. This number was bolstered by the family-friendly activities that formed part of the Combine Experience.
Additionally, Pete Ward, the chief operating officer for the Indianapolis Colts, highlighted the city’s capacity to smoothly host such a multifaceted event. “Indianapolis is particularly well-equipped to manage the complex logistics of the NFL Combine,” he remarked. Proper coordination allows easy transit for prospects, team owners, coaching staff, medical teams, and media, making it an ideal location for such events.
The next installment of the combine is scheduled to take place from February 27 to March 2, 2025, further solidifying the importance of Indianapolis as a prime venue for this significant NFL occasion.
