SANTA CLARA, Calif. — In an exciting overtime matchup, Jacksen Moni made a significant impact by scoring nine of his total 19 points during the extra period, leading North Dakota State to an 88-80 victory over Santa Clara on Wednesday.
With the game tied at 70 in the final moments of regulation, Brennan Watkins stepped up to the free-throw line and converted two crucial shots, which allowed the Bison to extend the game into overtime.
Moni displayed an impressive all-around performance, contributing not only his scoring but also pulling down seven rebounds for North Dakota State, which now boasts a record of 2-2. Jacari White also shone in the game, finishing with 19 points, alongside six rebounds and five assists, while Watkins added 14 points, showcasing his shooting skills by going 5 for 6, including 2 for 3 from three-point range.
On the other side, the Broncos struggled to maintain their momentum, with Adama Bal leading Santa Clara’s scoring efforts with 18 points. Elijah Mahi followed closely with 16 points, and Tyeree Bryan contributed with 15 points and six rebounds to the team’s performance.
North Dakota State faced a challenging first half, concluding it trailing 39-29, with Tajavis Miller managing to score six points before halftime. However, the Bison made a strong comeback in the second half, with White taking the lead for his team by scoring 11 points during that period.
