An automated warehouse firm recently declared its plans to invest $144 million in establishing a new facility in Georgia.
GreenBox Systems announced that it aims to hire approximately 300 employees for the upcoming warehouse, anticipated to commence operations in late 2025, located near Jackson, roughly 35 miles southeast of Atlanta.

This venture, GreenBox, is a collaboration between SoftBank Group Corp. of Japan and Symbotic from Massachusetts.
GreenBox will leverage Symbotic’s innovative automation technology, which includes AI-driven robots equipped with vision capabilities, to build warehouses that minimize human intervention in the processes of sorting, packing, and shipping products.
Currently, GreenBox operates at least one additional site located in California.

Establishing automated warehouses involves significant expenditures. The operational model of GreenBox is based on the premise that clients will pay a recurring fee to store their inventory in a GreenBox facility while utilizing its automation technology.
However, the company did not specify whether it had already secured clients for the new Butts County location or disclose any potential customers, and it did not reply to inquiries for further details.

The new warehouse will be integrated into a larger industrial park adjacent to Interstate 75.
The region has seen an increase in enormous warehouse constructions along interstate routes emanating from Atlanta; this growth has sometimes led to friction with local communities, primarily due to the substantial truck traffic these operations generate.

Moreover, the state of Georgia will fund the training of personnel for GreenBox, and the company may be eligible for up to $4.5 million in state income tax credits, amounting to $3,000 per job over a duration of five years, contingent on employees earning a minimum salary of $35,600 annually.
Additionally, Butts County might also provide property tax incentives on GreenBox’s equipment and facilities.
