CENTURION, South Africa — In an exciting T20 match on Wednesday, Tilak Varma made history by becoming the youngest player to score a hundred in the format against South Africa. The 22-year-old achieved this remarkable feat with an unbeaten 107 runs off just 56 deliveries, leading India to an 11-run victory.

Varma showcased his batting prowess with a display of powerful hitting, including eight boundaries and seven sixes. He received valuable support from his teammate Abhishek Sharma, who scored 50 runs off 25 balls. Together, they helped India post a formidable total of 219 runs for the loss of six wickets after being put into bat by South Africa, who won the toss.

In the chase, South Africa managed to score 208 runs for seven wickets, falling just short of the target. A standout performance came from Marco Jansen, who hit a rapid 54 runs off merely 17 balls, but his efforts weren’t enough to secure a win for his team.

On the bowling front for India, left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was particularly effective, claiming three wickets for 37 runs over his four-over spell. Additionally, the enigmatic spinner Varun Chakravarthy contributed with two wickets, conceding 54 runs.

With this result, India now leads the four-match T20 series 2-1. The series will conclude with the final match scheduled to take place in Johannesburg on Friday.
