SEOUL, South Korea — South Korean actor Song Jae-lim, acclaimed for his performances in K-drama series like “Moon Embracing the Sun” and “Queen Woo,” has passed away at the age of 39 in his residence in Seoul.
Authorities from the police station in the Seongdong district of Seoul have not yet released detailed information regarding the cause of his death. On Tuesday, a friend discovered Song during a scheduled lunch visit, and reports from Yonhap news agency indicate that a note was found in his home. Furthermore, sources claim that there were no indications of foul play involved in the incident.
Song Jae-lim launched his acting career with the film “Actresses” in 2009. He gained significant popularity with his portrayal of a royal guard in the highly successful drama “Moon Embracing the Sun,” which aired in 2012. This series, characterized by its blend of fantasy and romance, revolves around the love story between a medieval Korean king and a female shaman.
Additionally, he was featured in the reality show “We Got Married” in 2014, which highlighted his charm and on-screen presence. Recently, Song took on a supporting role in the streaming drama “Queen Woo,” released this year, which also delves into the themes of power struggles among royals in a historical setting.
